Triaging tasks in your Inbox
Work through compliance tasks in priority order using the Inbox view — filter by status, open a task, mark it complete.

Overview
Your Inbox is the single place Cablewater surfaces work that needs your attention — appointing a compliance officer, reviewing enhanced CDD on a high-risk client, acting on an SMR draft, and so on. Tasks are sorted with the most urgent on top so you can work top-down without thinking about priorities yourself.

Where the Inbox lives
The Inbox is the first item in the left sidebar. It’s also the default landing page after you sign in, so there’s nothing to click to get there.
How tasks are sorted
Cablewater sorts Inbox tasks in this order:
- Urgency — urgent tasks first, then normal, then informational.
- Deadline — within each urgency band, the soonest deadline wins.
- Creation time — ties are broken by newest-first so you always see fresh work quickly.
You don’t need to configure anything — every user sees the same sort order. Urgency is set by the system: statutory deadlines (like the AUSTRAC compliance officer appointment) are always urgent, PEP reviews and SMR drafts are urgent, client CDD and program reviews are normal, training reminders are informational.
Filtering by status
By default the Inbox shows every task assigned to you or to one of your roles. Use the status tabs above the list to narrow the view:
- All — every task, including completed ones.
- Pending — tasks that still need action. This is the view you’ll spend most of your time in.
- Completed — an audit trail of tasks you’ve finished, with the completion date visible on each row.
The counts next to each tab update live as you work through tasks.
Opening a task
Click any task row to open the screen that handles it. Different task
types route to different places — a client_cdd task opens the
client’s CDD workspace, an smr_review task opens the SMR draft, a co_appointment task opens the compliance officer setup wizard.
When you finish the work on the destination screen, the task is marked complete automatically and drops out of the Pending view. You’ll see it again in Completed with a timestamp and your name next to it — this is the audit trail AUSTRAC will ask for.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I see the same task as my colleague? Tasks assigned to a
role (like compliance_officer) show up for every user holding that
role. Whoever finishes it first marks it complete for everyone.
Can I snooze a task? Not yet. If a task doesn’t apply to you right now, leave it pending — the Inbox sort will keep it below anything that’s actually urgent.
Do urgent tasks notify me outside the app? Yes — if an urgent task is past its deadline, Cablewater sends a daily email digest to the compliance officer until it’s resolved.
